Information Persistence

Definition

Information Persistence is the property by which information content is retained and carried forward across recursive processing cycles, rather than being lost between them. The book characterizes it through the Memory Accumulation Equation: at each cycle a system keeps a fraction of its previous memory and adds newly coupled information, with the coupling strength enhanced by the Phase Coupling Equation. This retention is part of the pre-ignition stage, where the ignition probability, the stability criterion and memory accumulation together decide whether transient fluctuations decay or self-organize into enduring loops. Persistence, together with alignment and recursive feedback, is what lets stability arise, making loop formation a precondition for computation itself. The book also lists Information Persistence with Transmission Pathways as components of the Computational Substrate Architecture. It connects to the Memory Accumulation Equation, Phase Coupling Equation, Loop Formation, Transmission Pathways and Computational Substrate Architecture.
