Quantum Scaling Laws

Definition

Quantum Scaling Laws are the growth relations the book uses to chart the development of quantum computing from historical trends, covering qubit count, coherence time improvement and combined quality metrics. The central one is Qubit Count Scaling, an exponential law with a doubling period in the manner of Moore's Law for classical computing, starting from 100 qubits in 2020 and doubling about every 2.0 ± 0.3 years. Combined with improvements in quality, these trajectories are what the book uses to project when quantum systems will reach its thresholds, leading to the Timeline to Singularity estimate of 2039.9 ± 3.0 years and the Survival Function that gives the cumulative probability of reaching them. They include Qubit Count Scaling and connect to the Timeline to Singularity, Survival Function, Quantum Fraction Evolution, Transitional Scaling Function and Scaling Laws.
