Site Lift

Definition

Site Lift is how much more often wells are born inside sites than by chance: Λ_s = N_in / (N_w · A_s), wells born within a site's core over all wells born, against the share of the surface the cores cover; 1 is chance. It is the score of the Proto Well prediction (Part 3.14): if Proto Wells are where wells will form, wells are born inside sites far more often than chance. N_in counts the wells born within a site's core, the radius holding half its matter; N_w all wells born; A_s the share of the surface within the sites' cores, sampled on a grid with a point counted once however many cores overlap it, so A_s ≤ 1. It is read in every universe the simulation plays, together with the share of sites holding their well over its life, and goes on the universe's record with each site's conditions and how and when its well was born. The lift is an enrichment ratio, a test of the theory's prediction against chance; no physics source gives it, though that halos collapse at the peaks of the early density field is standard cosmology (Bardeen, Bond, Kaiser & Szalay, 1986). Part 3.14 lists it among the theory's testable predictions. The book writes Λ_s = N_in / (N_w · A_s), where Λ_s is the lift [∅], N_in the wells born within a site's core [∅], N_w all wells born [∅] and A_s the share of the surface within the cores [∅]: [∅] ÷ ([∅] × [∅]) = [∅]. It connects to Proto Well, Data Matter, Physical Nova and Data Matter Count with Failed Proto Wells.

How much more often wells are born inside sites than by chance

Where:

  • Λ_s [∅] — the lift: 1 is chance
  • N_in [∅] — wells born within a site's core, the radius holding half its matter
  • N_w [∅] — all wells born
  • A_s [∅] — the share of the surface within the sites' cores
