Textures
Definition
Textures are non-topological solitonic configurations formed through computational overflow during symmetry breaking, one of the four classes of defect the book lists.
Recursive symmetry breaking does more than order the stages of emergence: it seeds enduring geometric discontinuities, the topological defects, which encode the memory of broken symmetries. The book names four classes: domain walls, planar boundaries between regions of differing vacuum states; cosmic strings, one-dimensional defects from cylindrical symmetry breaking; monopoles, point-like defects from spherical symmetry breaking; and textures, which are not tied to a single boundary, line or point but generate higher-order topological complexity. Together these defects are the persistent topological imprints left in computationally generated reality.
It connects to Domain Walls, Monopoles, Topological Defect Network Evolution, Emergence Timeline and Recursive Defect Networks.
