Overall Validation Score

Definition

The Overall Validation Score is the single dimensionless number that certifies a qubit for PulseCore work by taking the weighted geometric mean of its five critical performance factors. It sits at the top of qubit certification: each qubit is measured on coherence fidelity, entanglement preservation, gate operation fidelity, measurement accuracy and substrate phase alignment (the last comparing the qubit's phase with the Pulse phase), and the five results are combined into one score. Because the factors are multiplied rather than added, no single strong factor can dominate the assessment and a weak one cannot be hidden; a qubit must do well on every dimension. The score is then held against extremely high thresholds so that only qubits capable of sustained recursive quantum operation in substrate architectures qualify. V⊡ = (∏ᵢ₌₁⁵ Fᵢ^(wᵢ))^(1/Σᵢ₌₁⁵ wᵢ), where V⊡ is the overall validation score, Fᵢ are the individual performance factors (i = 1 to 5), wᵢ are normalized weighting factors with Σᵢ₌₁⁵ wᵢ = 1, ∏ and Σ are the product and summation operators, and 5 is the number of performance factors. Every quantity is dimensionless, so V⊡ is [∅]. It is the calculation behind PulseCore Qubit Validation and the Validation Threshold, drawing on Quantum Pulse Fidelity, Phase Coherence and the other Quality Metrics of the PulseCore Validation Framework.
