PulseCore

Chapter 2

The Pulsecore Field

How the game brings Binary Pulse Theory's Pulsecore to the screen: the field of cells it is written on, the cell rule and clock that run it, the data within and its two novas, the harmonic series of the life, and the horn torus the data then circulates round, each law with the game's arithmetic, what the player sees, and every fixed number it uses.

Chapter 2

The Pulsecore Field

Binary Pulse Theory begins every universe in the same place: a Pulsecore, a bubble of data held inside the Bifold, the skin between one universe and the next. This chapter follows that bubble from the first painted cell to the start of the life. It brings into the game BPT Chapter 1 (the Law of Binary Emergence, Part 1.1; Bits per Pulse and the Rupture Rule, Part 1.6; the Local Pixel Count, Part 1.9; Information-Driven Perpetuation, Part 1.11), Chapter 3 (the First Fold, Part 3.2; the Pulse Front and the Data Nova Scale Law, Part 3.5; the Pulsecore as a Bubble of Data, the Bifold Containment Law, the Null Nova Condition, the Outward Expansion Set, Data Harmonics and the Layer Count Law, Part 3.6; the Dimensional Failure Law, Part 3.9; Dilation Toward the Final Well, Part 3.10; the Cell Rule as Part 3.15 states it), Chapter 4 (the Harmonic Duality of Radii and the Harmonic Ratio Function, Part 4.1; Space Layers Dynamics, Part 4.2), Chapter 5 (the Binary Transition Operator and the Spatial Coupling Mechanism, Part 5.1), the spin passages of Chapters 2 and 6 (Parts 2.8, 6.8 and 6.9), and Chapter 8 (the Toroidal Pulse Manifold, Part 8.7).

What the theory says happens. Every cell is a pulse, 0 → 1 → 0, held in perpetual reversal; a null cell that has been exposed to one whole pulse of lit neighbors bifurcates and starts pulsing; a pulser enclosed by its own phase folds back to null. The data inside the Pulsecore grows as (n + 1)² after n Tempos and moves at light speed, writing itself onto the Bifold where it strikes. Every bit carries its null. When data and null together fill the Bifold's record of 16·4^L bits, the Null Nova expels the null as space, an empty torus. When the data alone fills it, the Data Nova turns the bubble inside out and pours the data onto that space, where it circulates round a horn torus whose throat is the Source. The universe's life begins at Harmonic 3, the Physical Nova, lasts 2^L Tempos, and its later novas arrive as a harmonic series that crowds into its final well, while the information around its pulse dilates toward the next level's size.

How the game makes it happen. One square field of cells, 4·2^L a side, holds the data. The cell rule in engine.js advances it one flip at a time, and a clock counts flips into Tempos. Inside the Pulsecore a gas of points stands for the data within; it flies at light speed, strikes the skin and trades bits with the cells it hits. The capacity law fires the two Pulsecore novas, a row map turns the field inside out at the Data Nova, and from then on the field is laid on a 3D horn torus by an equal-area map and rolled round its tube at light speed.

What a player watches. Before Start the player paints the Pulsecore and sets the level and genesis. In the 3D view the Pulsecore is a turning sphere wearing the painted field; after Start colored points fly inside it and trace their paths, and a dark haze thickens as the null packs in. At the Null Nova a faint torus of space stands round the core and grows. At the Data Nova a burst of colored points pours out onto a lattice, the field becomes the skin of the torus, and the colors wind round the tube as the data circulates. Banners name each nova to Harmonic 4, colored rings stack outside the torus for each harmonic after that, and the readout counts Tempos, capacity and layers as they go.

One convention runs through every Part. A deep universe is drawn as a scale model: the field, the clock and the Pulsecore run at a model level Lm, the true level L on a desktop up to level 6 and on a phone up to level 4, while the universe's laws read the true level. Counts in this chapter are model-level counts unless they say otherwise. A few pieces of field code are present but switched off (the spin weights, the flat-map drag, the Pulsecore's inner gas after the Data Nova); they are documented so that every number in them has an origin, and each is marked inactive.
